The Importance of Sleep - Video Transcript
Hey, everyone, I'm Kristen, the anxiety therapist. And today I wanted to talk about the importance of sleep. I thought this was a good topic because we just had daylight savings. And I was also reading the news this morning and came across a study called the apple heart and movement study. And basically, they logged the amount of sleep people were getting using their Apple watches. And so they monitored 42,000 people and found that only 31% were getting the recommended seven hours of sleep per night and seven is minimum, really, we should be getting between seven and nine hours.

What is Doomscrolling? - Video Transcript
Hi everyone, I'm Kristen, the anxiety therapist, and today I'm going to be talking about doom scrolling and this is a term that refers to scrolling through social media or any sort of news feed in which we sort of go down the rabbit hole of consuming negative information. And this inevitably elicits a sense of doom or dread or just a general sense of negativity about the state of the world. So it's definitely not a new concept. TIPP Technique - Video Transcript
Hi everyone. I'm Kristen, the anxiety therapist. And in this video I'm going to be sharing a technique called TIPP. And this is taken from dialectical behavior therapy also known as DBT. And it's a really quick and effective way of calming down your emotions. If you're feeling just completely emotionally overwhelmed or dis regulated so the t. Stands for temperature.
And um if you saw my video last week I thought I talked a little bit about vagus nerve icing. And this is essentially the first step in tips. So you want to expose your body to extreme cold and bring down your body temperature which is going to slow your heart rate and send a signal to your brain that it's time to slow everything down and and activate that dive response that I mentioned in last week's video.

How to Survive the Holidays: Part 2 - Video Transcript
Hey everyone, I'm Kristen the anxiety therapist and I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving if you celebrated um today's video is going to be a follow up of how to survive the holidays. So last week I shared a few tips and this will be part two. I know we have some more holidays coming up in December and January, which can be very stressful or triggering for a lot of people.
So my first tip is to let go of expectations. I think a lot of times we enter into a situation and this doesn't just apply to holidays. This can be any situation. Um, and we have certain expectations about how something is going to go, what, be it positive or negative and that really kind of um does us a disservice because ultimately we, we don't have a crystal ball, we can't predict the future.
